Profile of late most Rev Walane Amathagaveshi Thero. (Founder of Daham Madura)

Born on 19th December 1918 and was named as Kuruppu Arachchlage Don Koranelius Ekanayaka. Initially employed as a Teacher at Dikwella Vijitha Central College and retired as the Director of Training of Sri Lanka Police Service.

At the age of 66, he was ordained on the 10th September 1985 under the most Ven Kidagammulle Premasiri Maha Thero. He received his higher ordination on 14th June 1986 at Kaduboda Siyanaa Vippassana Meditation Centre, under the holy feet of Most Rev Eriyagama Pragnarammbha Maha Thero.

Amathagaveshi Thero excelled in Samatha Vippassana Meditation and possessed natural skills in auratation. He dedicated his entire priesthood to pave the way to liberation from sansara to many Bhikkus, Sil Matha’s and lay devotees. During his life time, his fame on propagation of Vippassana meditation spread to many overseas countries too.

His compassion towards recognising the dedication of Buddhist Nuns (Sil Matha) towards spiritual enlightment paved the way to many to reach the fruits of the holy path.
